The LG G8s ThinkQ utilizes OLED technology, which delivers individually-lit pixels for true blacks and an effectively infinite contrast ratio. This means dark scenes in movies and night-mode interfaces consume virtually zero power on dark pixels, directly contributing to longer battery life compared to traditional LCD panels. At 1200 nits peak brightness, outdoor readability is solid, though not class-leading.

The standard 60Hz refresh rate is a tradeoff — while smooth enough for everyday tasks like texting and browsing, users coming from higher-refresh-rate devices will notice the difference in scrolling smoothness. For gaming and media consumption, this is the main spec that separates this display from pricier alternatives.
